Fellowship Academy is a University-Model® School (UMS).  Fellowship Academy was started to help families provide their students with a high-quality education with a Christian world view through strengthening family bonds. This is done by integrating the home and the school focused on a common purpose of making disciples.

University-Model Schooling follows a university schedule.  Students attend classes on campus certain days of the week and continue their class work at home on the off-campus days.  The combination of on-campus and off-campus days creates a five day school week for students.  Thus, a quality education, centered on Jesus Christ, also becomes quality family time devoted to learning more about the Creator and His creation.

In a University Modeled School:

  • Students are educated in a Christ centered environment.

  • Students have  a weekly schedule has Class Days and Home Days.

  • Parents are actively involved  as co-teachers working with their students through lessons designed by credentialed teachers.

  • Schedule teaches students to be active  participants in their education in the classroom and at home.

  • Junior High students only sign up for the classes they want to take.

These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” - Deuteronomy 6:6-7

Our History

Melinda Shows

In 2013, a group of parents and church members had a discussion about educational options for their children where the parents could both educate and disciple their children. After mentioning this to a few others it was evident that other people where searching for the same alternative in education. An elder’s wife mentioned a local University Model School and after researching it two of the three founders along with the Executive Pastor of Fellowship Church headed to Midlothian, Texas for a New Developing School workshop to see what it was all about. They were impressed and inspired both by the model and their meeting with the executive director of the National Association of University-Model Schools, Barbara Freeman, of Arlington. Prayerfully, they agreed to work together to start a new school.

The result of their efforts was the formation of “Fellowship Academy” in Liberty Hill, Texas, a private school with plans to serve students in grades K-12 from the surrounding area. The school is a concrete example of a new educational model called University-Model® schooling (UMS) in which two proven elements of educational success the professional classroom instruction of a teacher and the caring at-home mentoring of a parent are combined into a single, unified, college-simulated program. Other proven elements of the school’s program include character education, low student/teacher ratios, hands-on learning, a strong student work ethic, an effective college-preparatory curriculum, character-building student activities, and servant-minded local operation and management.

The school was officially incorporated on December 10, 2014 and with The Lord’s guidance plans to open for it’s first day of class on September 8, 2015 serving Kindergarten through 4th grade.
