School Board President, Wes Griffin

Born and raised in Texas, Wes is the son of a Methodist Minister. He graduated from Uvalde High School, and entered the US Navy in 1972. Wesley married his high school sweetheart Jan Matthews in 1975, and attended the University of Texas Architecture School after being honorably discharged. Wesley received degrees in Architecture and Architectural Engineering in 1981.

Wesley worked for the firm of Don Tew Architect after graduating, receiving his license to practice Architecture in 1984. Wes and Jan joined Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin and made their home in Cedar Park, North Austin, and now in Liberty Hill. Wes formed a firm with his business partner Dan Jacobson in 2005, and continues to enjoy providing architectural services to schools and churches in Central Texas.

Wes and Jan were active members of Hyde Park Baptist during the seventies and eighties, Church of the Hills in the nineties, and have been active at Fellowship Church of Liberty Hill since 2000.

Wes has a passion for God’s Word, and loves studying it and teaching it. His teaching experience dates back to the four-year-old classes of Sunday School at Hyde Park. He then moved to teaching seventh-grade boys. Since joining Fellowship, he has taught an adult class continually until the summer of 2017.

“A teacher who loves their subject will communicate that love and excitement to their students.”

Director, Shannon Svatek

I am thrilled to be at Fellowship Academy. After several years in the public-school system, I relish the opportunity to teach about Jesus in the classroom.  The best part of Fellowship Academy is the incredible support I get from the families of my students.  We work as a team.

Teachers

In 2013, a group of parents and church members had a discussion about educational options for their children where the parents could both educate and disciple their children. The result of their efforts was the formation of “Fellowship Academy” in Liberty Hill, Texas, a private school with plans to serve students in grades K-12 from the surrounding area.

The school is a concrete example of a new educational model called University-Model® schooling (UMS) in which two proven elements of educational success the professional classroom instruction of a teacher and the caring at-home mentoring of a parent are combined into a single, unified, college-simulated program. Other proven elements of the school’s program include character education, low student/teacher ratios, hands-on learning, a strong student work ethic, an effective college-preparatory curriculum, character-building student activities, and servant-minded local operation and management.

Our Mission

Fellowship Academy’s mission is to partner with families in order to provide an excellent education and make disciples of Jesus who are equipped to influence the world in a way that brings glory to God.
