Parents are uniquely positioned to instruct their children as they possess special knowledge of their child’s learning style and capability as well as the relational experience to deliver private instruction in a relaxed environment.
The following are definitions that can help explain the parent role at home on the off-site learning days:
Home Teacher The parent must be available to read instructions and explain the lesson activity on the day the student is home. This is needed primarily at the K-3rd grade level and for those early readers.
Tutor The parent must be available at home to go over the assignments given by the classroom teacher and provide additional instruction for the lessons as needed by the student. They will encourage and supervise the completion of all work and help facilitate special projects. Tutors are needed primarily at the 3rd-6th grade level.
Course Monitor Parent must be available on the days the student is at home to monitor the success and completion of work and confirm that the work completed is the student’s. The role of parent as monitor will be done at the 6th-12th
