Electives

We have several electives to offer this year. Please look through the list and decide which electives you are interested in for your student.  There is a registration form at the bottom of the list.  Be aware that these classes will only happen if 5 students sign up.  I will let you know if a chosen class does not make and give you the option to chose another.

Homeschoolers

Electives are open to local homeschoolers.  Please include your contact information in the comments section so we can connect to complete the needed paperwork.

The elective schedule will be decided once we determine the class roster.  The electives will be scheduled after school on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  The only class on Monday will be study hall.

Design     ‘In the beginning, God created. . .’

You and everything around you have been designed. Just as God is a Designer, you were created with a unique quality to be a designer; it is in your basic nature. This course will help you realize what you may not already understand, and develop some basic skills beyond your God-given abilities in the design process.

Visualization Skills – Each class period we will spend some time discussing and learning about the elements, or parts, of creating a visual design. These elements will help us to imagine, and then communicate, the design that we want to illustrate.

Process/ Problem Solving Skills – Each class period we will spend some time discussing and learning about the core principles and the user’s model of creative problem solving.

Our course goal is to be able to identify a problem or need, carefully and thoughtfully define the issue, tap into available resources to generate a design, visualize and communicate effectively a proposed design, apply available tools to create/build/make the design, and formulate an assessment process to later analyze the effectiveness of the design.
